Hello.......My Name is MISTER COCKER !

It was May of 2006 that I came to live here at Irish's Clover Leaf Kennel. I wandered in one day and took a look around. I seen an old horse that looked like he might want a friend besides the Chesapeakes he would visit with. His name is Shiloh and he just turned 29 years old. He was willing to share his grain and his shelter so I decided to stay.

My Hobbies & Interests
My days are pretty laid back. I start my day before sunrise crowing for at least a half hour. This time of year (Summer)I wake up around 4:30. I peck around the ground and tease the Chesapeakes. They especially don't like it when I decide to take my dust bath right there by the kennels and get flopping around. I go to bed early so I can start another day bright (or should I say dark) and early.

Some of My Adventures
  July 25th 2007
I had quite an adventure. Here is what happened. It is my habit during the day to sneak into the back yard where the dog kennels are. Dorene has not discovered yet where I am coming in. The dogs normally are not in the kennels during the day because they are out in the big run area. I like to hang out in Ben's kennel. Well today, Dorene left early this morning and did not put the dogs out to the big run. A little after lunch, Ben's kennel appeared to be empty so I went in. I was doing my usual wandering around in there when all of a sudden Ben came out of his house and almost had chicken for lunch. I managed to scoot out under the gate. That was a close one. It's a good thing that I didn't go into one of the other kennels of the smaller Chessies, they would have had me. Ben is 100 lbs so he can't fly out of his house as fast as the girls that are only about 65 lbs. That's the second time I was almost lunch. Josey did get ahold of me last year. With help from Dorene, I managed to get away with just a few minor injuries. That time though, I was where I belonged and it was Josey that got into my area.

Here I am checking out the housing for the dogs......roomier than my chicken house.

Farewell Mr. Cocker

unknown ~ July 4, 2008

We're sad to report that Mr. Cocker was the victim of a feral cat sometime in the night while he was sleeping. He is greatly missed. He was a very social bird, always wanting to be where the action was. Needless to say, the mornings are sadly quiet.

check back......more photos to be added
